Cooperative societies' meeting held
The Navi Mumbai Cooperative Housing Federation Ltd, an apex body of cooperative housing societies coming under the jurisdiction of CIDCO and NMMC, organized a meeting with member-societies of Vashi nodes on January 10. More than 100 representatives attended the session.
K Somakumar, general secretary of NMCHF informed that some important issues discussed in the seminar were:
o Builders not complying with the promises made in the said agreement
o Non-registration of societies
o Collection of default amount
o Disputes between managing committee and society members
o Delay in getting justice from registrar office
o Builders delaying construction work and not giving possession in time

The dais was shared by many eminent speakers. Advocate Vinod Sampat shared his views on cooperative societies' bye-laws, rules and regulations. K Somakumar spoke on cooperative societies' memberships. AK Bhattacharya gave a brief on the history of cooperative movement. KR Gujjar, Joint Registrar of Stamps, Thane, informed about the Bombay Stamps Act, Registration of Agreements, Stamp Duty assessments and payments and also the penalty levied for late or non payments. While RS Verma, CA gave lecture on maintenance of society accounts, office records, register and documents, audit rectification and also on ways of filing tax returns in CHS.
