Filthy subway forces residents

Filthy subway forces residents
Residents of Sectors 6, 7 and 8 in Vashi say that lack of cleanliness in their vicinity is a major problem faced
by them but their complaints in this regard have never been heard.
If residents have to take
a bus to Mumbai they have to cross a main express highway even though a subway has been built by NMMC there.
The subway is in a filthy condition as it is used by anti-social elements. Therefore, residents have no other option but to risk their lives by crossing the main Sion-Panvel express highway. This is the only highway coming from Mumbai and moving towards JNPT, Pune, Goa, Bangalore etc. Accidents routinely occur here but NMMC is least bothered about ensuring that the subway is kept clear of filth and anti-social elements.
The second major health hazard for residents are dust bins placed near the bus stop. The stink of garbage thrown by nearby hotels and villagers, is unbearable. Residents have many a
time approached NMMC for shifting of these dustbins from existing space, "expressed Inderjeet Singh, local social worker."
