Navi Mumbai journalists for social security

Navi Mumbai journalists for social security
The newly formed body called Journalists Welfare Association has called for providing social security to scribes. Journalists who have already spent more than ten to fifteen years, are still working at low wages. There are no other security measures provided to them. To fight for their self security, Navi Mumbai journalists have formed this association.
Journalists many a time have expressed concerns about poor security arrangements. They are not secure even in the office premises, because some-times even political parties attack the press, like in the case of IBN Lokmat regardless of their independent views or the political orientation.
As a part of the establishment, the association has announced the 1st Guruvarya Award to Vishwarath Nayar -Editor of Raigad Observer and political and NMMC correspondent of NMTV. The award was presented by Dinkar Raikar group editor of Lokmat newspaper. The function was held at Vishnudas Bhave auditorium in Vashi on February 19. Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, Govt of Maharashtra Devendra Bhujbal presided the function.
Sanjay Malme, executive editor of Punyanagari, Sanjeev Sabade resident editor of Pudhari, Praful Phadake resident editor of Gavkari were the chief guests. Special invitees included Datta Pokhavkar sub-editor Navakal, Pravin Puro, general secretary Mantralaya Reporters Sangh, Balasaheb Darkunde sub-editor Samna, Mohammed Salim Shaikh managing editor of Mahanagari Express and other senior journalists from the city.
