Couples feel the need of a park in Navi Mumbai
Navi Mumbai was developed around 35 years back to decongest the rising population of Mumbai city. The second major reason was to provide affordable housing.
The houses built by the CIDCO were for all categories-low income, middle income and high income groups. The highest numbers were of LIG and MIG, which have either single room or the most two room kitchen.
Living in a joint family is often a sort of challenge for a married couple. The reasons are many; one simple reason is non availability of space for interaction with each other. In Navi Mumbai the city of 21st century especially Vashi there is hardly any space for couples. It is not so that there are no proper parks, but they are usually occupied by senior citizens or children.
It is during the budget making of NMMC for the year 2009-10 corporator Avinash Lad had demanded the need to develop lovers park at Mini Sea Shore Vashi. This was partially supported and partially opposed by other corporators. Even the administration did not find it interesting so the idea was dropped.
